Skin Checks
Living in New Zealand, it is essential to consider the health of your skin. New Zealand has the highest skin cancer and melanoma rates in the world! A full skin check offers the best chance to detect skin cancers early.
Our SCCA (Skin Cancer College of Australasia) qualified Doctors offer comprehensive 30 minute full body skin examinations, diagnosis and treatments (including surgical removal).
Patients are encouraged to SCAN their skin for any lesion that is:
S-Sore – any skin lesion that is sore, scaly, itchy, bleeding or tender and doesn’t heal in 6 weeks
C-Changing – in size, colour, texture or shape
A-Abnormal – looks or feels different or stands out compared to your other spots or moles
N-New – has appeared on your skin recently. Any new moles or spots should be checked, especially if you are over 40
We offer:
A comprehensive Full Skin Check, which is a dermatoscopy screening service for skin problems. Dermatoscopy is a technique used to closely examine a suspicious spot and is a recognised and effective way of identifying potentially cancerous skin changes.
Lesions identified as needing to be removed may be referred to another GP at the practice for removal (who has advanced training in skin cancer surgery), or sin some cases, hospital services.
Non-surgical treatments such as cryotherapy (freezing) of warts, superficial skin cancers or skin tags, and skin cancer creams for superficial skin cancers.
Spot/Mole checks.
This skin service is available to both enrolled and casual patients.
